National Wind Farm Open Day

Ever wondered what it would be like to be up and close to an enormous wind turbine and watch its mighty blades wheel through the skies above? Or perhaps you’ve wished to welcome Geraldton’s wind, rather than lament it? Now is your chance to appreciate it, as Mumbida Wind Farm opening its doors for National Wind Farm Open Day.

Time: 10am to 2pm

Location: Mumbida Wind Farm - 500 Connolly Rd, Burma Road


OPTION 1- Self-drive is encouraged. Click here for a map link to the farm. Roadside sign will be visible at the site the turn off. Ample onsite parking is available. Those who self-drive are asked to park in the designated parking area and register in the marquee for a tour of the wind farm.

OPTION 2- Mumbida Wind Farm are offering two (free) buses to transport pre-registered passengers to the farm and back. Buses will depart from the Bill Sewell Complex, 84 Chapman Road, Geraldton. Book here via Eventbrite

  • Bus 1 will depart at 9.10am
  • Bus 2 will depart at 10.10am
  • Return trip - buses will depart the site at approximately 1:30pm and 2:30pm, returning to Bill Sewell Complex

  • Once your tour is complete you will be dropped off in the event marquee to enjoy the on-ground activities, whilst others enjoy tours of the farm.

Enjoy the 30-40-minute ride out to the wind farm past dazzling yellow canola fields and green crops to Mumbida Wind Farm (40 kilometres south-east of Geraldton).

Once on site you’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes guided bus tour through the farm to see and hear the towering turbines up close. As part of the open day you’ll also gain a better appreciation of wind energy through first-hand information available on ground from our wind farm experts.

The young and young at heart will be kept entertained with activities and entertainment including a craft tent, face painting and bouncy castle. There will be sausage sizzle and cold refreshments for sale, operated by a local fundraising group.
